Bupa and nib regularly review their policyholder base to ensure members are enrolled on the appropriate level of cover based on their visa circumstances.
This review includes all active OSHC memberships against visa information available to nib and BUPA, including Department of Home Affairs VEVO data where available. The review may identify instances where a partner or dependant listed on a student visa appears to hold a Single policy, rather than being included on the primary student visa holder’s Couples, Family or Single Parent Family policy.
The OSHC Deed recognises the following insured groups based on the Overseas Student and their eligible family members:
- Overseas Student only
- Overseas Student and partner
- Overseas Student and dependant children
- Overseas Student, partner and dependant children
Correct policy selection supports OSHC compliance and helps avoid future policy amendments, premium adjustments or coverage issues.
Why could there be a mismatch?
A mismatch may be identified and a customer subsequently contacted for one of the following reasons:
- The health insurance product is incompatible with their visa;
- The dates of their Overseas Student Health Cover and student visa do not align;
- They are not the primary applicant on their health insurance;
- Visa details cannot be confirmed; or
- Passport details cannot be confirmed
Any discrepancies will need to be resolved by the customer so that their visa requirements and health cover accurately align.
Please note customers will be advised to contact their Agent for support resolving any discrepancies, so you may receive enquiries following any communication to customers about this.
